Monday, September 25, 2017
Ray Kurzweil spoke a bit more on the future of jobs during an interview with Fortune.

That's a great way to put it...some of the comments below the summary are worth noting, though many are not.  One that adds something is this one

Speaking of the future, the way jobs turn out in a Star Trek society is Utopian imo!  Seems ST Discovery had a good debut, I personally liked it even though I've never been that interested in Klingons...I'm just happy to have ST back on the air, they did say Season 2 will be a whole new "non-Klingon story"

Interesting Items Part Deux

I've been a big proponent of clean water being a priority, so when we bought our house I bought both a whole-house Kinetico water purification (and softening) system...on top of that a 5-stage Reverse-Osmosis (RO) in the kitchen.

Check the article, these plastic fibers contaminants are 10 microns, that will pass thru a lot of filters even, certainly anything the city might use but RO's semi-permeable membrane is typically 0.0001 microns :-)  Also clearly they cannot be boiled away...unless of course you mean distilling your water (i.e. catching the water vapor) ;-)

Hard to say at this point what kinds of ailments drinking microscopic plastic fibers could lead to but we have been hearing about stranger and stranger ones in the last few decades.

Changing gears, this is a very cool new hack called the Dolphin-Attack using hypersonic commands on all the Siri's and other voice assistants...we of course cannot hear past audible frequencies so we have no idea anything is even happening!

Workers: Fear Not the Robot Apocalypse

Thursday, September 7, 2017

It is too rare to see articles regarding the positive side of automation...I mean think about it, automation didn't just start yesterday it's been going on in one form or another for at least a century or more and the avg. person's standard of living is quite a bit higher since back then!
