Subway

Just saw this article on Subway's Chicken (or lack thereof) Subs.  Only 50% or so of the Chicken is actually Chicken...yes some of it is spices etc. But a good portion is also preservatives, salt & filler!

Even at the store there's a huge difference between cold cuts that cost $1.50/100g or $3.50/100g and even the $3.50 cold cuts aren't perfect I'm sure but they taste pretty good.  I can guarantee that Subway isn't using the $3.50 cold cuts :-)  (or even the $1.50! :-(

I like this 1 comment on the article (after someone commented that the companies responses seem reasonable -- umm ya sure it's called PR!)

Yes, read the response, but like all communications from large companies, you have to read it critically
For example, from the end of Subway's response:
We will look into this again with our supplier to ensure that the chicken is meeting the high standard we set for all of our menu items and ingredients.
Translate this into normal english and it is "We do not adequately QA our supply chain & our lowest-bid supplier is giving us a chicken/soy blend. We only care about this because we just got caught out"
